The Las Vegas valley is about 24 miles wide and 24 miles long, at 2,170 ft above sea level. There are three incorporated cities in the valley: Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson. The other two incorporated cities in Clark County are Mesquite and Laughlin. Several unincorporated townships and neighborhoods in the Las Vegas valley are regulated by Clark County. Between six and seven thousand people move into the valley every month, a trend that started in the early 1990s. Clark County's population is estimated at 1.8 million (compare to Nevada's population of 2.5 million).
